Survey write-ups take half the time

Surveyors recorded species on paper, then spent the evening typing it all into spreadsheets. Earlier apps needed a signal, which most meadows don’t have.
I went out on three surveys with the team and designed for big thumbs, bright sun and no signal. Entries save on the phone and sync back at the office, and the species search learns the plants you record most.
The pilot team halved the time spent writing up surveys, and the app is now used by four ecology consultancies in the north of England.
